dokNE Advisory Board
The dokNE advisory board conducted its first evaluation at June 22.
The advisory board conducted its first evaluation of the individual projects within dokNE on Friday, June 22nd 2012. The guests were welcomed by Vice Rector Josef Glößl and the head of school, Andreas Muhar, who gave a brief introduction to dokNE. The projects were presented in two parallel sessions to provide enough time for feedback and discussion (20 min) after each presentation (20 min). In order to regain strength for the afternoon sessions a delicious lunch buffet was provided by the catering company froemmel’s – certified with the Austrian Eco Label (Österreichisches Umweltzeichen).
At the end of the presentations the advisory board prepared a feedback for the school and the individual projects, which was then presented in a final plenary session. Overall, the advisory board commented very positively on the progress of the individual projects and the wide range of sustainability topics covered within the school. Important issues identified by the advisory board have been (1) to critically review and better justify the methodological choices; (2) not to overload PhD students too much with possible project co-operations and (3) to further clarify the link to the overarching concept of sustainability in the very specific projects. Final words of thanks by Andreas Muhar and Josef Glößl marked the end of the first successful evaluation of the projects.
Unfortunately, Christian Pohl and Christian Baumgartner had not been able to attend the advisory board meeting. However, it was possible to arrange a Skype conference with both of them two days prior to the advisory board meeting. This enabled many PhD students to receive valuable and immediate feedback from them.
